Stolen Wages Class Action Settlement

The Western Australia Stolen Wages Class Action hearing was held in Perth this week.

The Federal Court has approved a settlement of $180 million.

Aboriginal people who had their wages withheld or were underpaid on stations between 1936 and 1972 will be reimbursed, with around 8,750 successful claimants set to receive a payment.

The payment amounts for each claimant will be determined over the coming weeks.
